No game is perfect and that is also true even for a great game such as Atlantica Online. Here are 10 reasons why you might not like the game.
1. There is so much to do it’s overwhelming. Sure if you have lots to do you’ll never get bored but when there’s too much to do you’ll most likely get annoyed. There’s crafting for every single line of equipment, pants, helmets, bullets, food, arrows, miscellaneous and every skill has 100 points to lvl up and each point requires you to craft a number of items and each item... annoying isn’t it?
2. Quest while easy to complete take too long. At first quests are simple moving you back and forth between an area or two but when you get to quests that have you walking around different maps that’s when you’ll start to leave the keyboard and hope no one attacks you character while he automatically walks there.
3. Huge map. It is cool to have most of the world as your plaything but when you get to paying 30.000 gold just to teleport to a city it gets a little annoying. There’s always the alternative of auto-moving but guess what….big map….auto-move may take up to 20 min for some long walks.
4. You need a lot of money. A lot of money, a whole lot of money…seriously. If you want to craft, have the best equipment, potions or basically anything that is good you’re going to have to make a lot of money. Most of the items are sold by players who charge a lot, or you can craft them but that takes a long time as the better items require a varied array of materials.
5. Money balance. People who win the championship receive huge prizes and guess what, they’ll use the money to further upgrade their characters which in turn lets them win the next championship and so on, every now and then the champion changes but still some people rule the high levels.6. Dependency on will. Teleporting, using books and some items uses up will. It is free and recharges automatically but when you want to recruit villagers for your town, read experience books and use healing items 100 will won’t be of much help.
7. Exploits. 2 monk builds, you probably don’t understand this but if you get to playing Atlantica Online you’ll learn to hate these people. The game allows you to take on whatever mercenaries you want but stacking monks in order to win just for the sake of winning is no fun, at least for all the people that just want to enjoy the game.
8. Graphics. Even with all the settings turned up to the max the game does not look too great. It’s better than most F2P MMOs out there but still it feels like the game could have used some improved graphics especially since the rest is pretty solid.
9. Level dependency. You have a wide range of mercenaries to recruit but there is a catch. The best mercenaries are available only after lvl 44 and I’m not saying all of them will be available right at 44, others will be available at 50, 77, 100 and so on. It is very infuriating since once you get a mercenary he starts with level 1. Your mercenaries gain experience by hitting and a level 1 mercenary won’t even hit a level 80 mob so you either buy experience books or go back to the lower levels.
10. Patches keep changing things not always in a good way. Hurray for patches, new content monsters, areas, mercenaries but what’s with all the minor changes to the classes and items. I understand that they want to balance the game out but at this rate it’s never going to be balanced because players can’t give feedback if every mercenary is changed in small amounts that players can’t notice.Atlantica Online is indeed a great game, there are some small flaws here and there such as the ones pointed out above but in the end you get a great game, a lot of lore, innovative combat system, plenty of characters to choose from and a lot more at no expense to you since after all it is a free game. Go on, check the website out, have fun and see you in the world of Atlantica.
