Presented by Gpotato Fly For Fun (Flyff) is a great experience for those in need of a challenging free MMORPG. Flyff is presented in an Anime like style which offers decent character expression as well as an almost seamless frame rate, presenting a wonderful 90fps at 60kb/s (great game for non-cable). This game, like most great MMO's is PVE built with many options for the pvper. Duels guild wars and pvp servers are there to quench the thirst of the competitive and endless vistas of eye-pleasing scenery and thousands of kinds of masquerpets, the monsters of Madrigal are there as a challenge for those who wish to progress at a more leisurely pace.
The unique and marking feature of Flyff is that all characters gain the ability to fly at level 20 on their choice of a hoverboard broom or for the rich and fortunate jetbikes and even clouds. This ability allows you to experience all parts of the land of madrigal, find secret areas and treasure. All players begin their journey as a vagrant, the starting class. Then at level 15 they gain access to the first class change quests and can become a mage, fighter, assist or acrobat all offering different experiences and all focusing on a specific path. at level 60 players gain access to the specialization class quests allowing them to further refine thier playing style even further.
Fly For Fun offers a bewildering array of player and gear customizations hair styles costumes and pets, gear can be upgraded by stats or you can imbue it with elemental power. Gpotato has almost always got at least one event running, all offering rare drops or extra experience increasing the frenetic pace of the game. All of the monsters you will fight have an individual elemental weakness. this means that your equipment might have a nice easy ride killing one giant scorpion but the next might be a real challenge.
The Flyff story names you as an up-and-coming hero that will help defeat the evil masquerpet forces of the god shade and save the dwarpet race. the land is split into four separate continents Flaris (the starting area), Saints Morning, Darkon and the garden of Rhisis. The two biggest downsides of this game are the strong focus on grinding and leeching (doesn't every game have this problem?) very repetitive quests and illegal currency trading. Major pros include the game being 100% explorable without spending a cent, Gpotato does sell Gpotatoes (lack of creativity here) but these are used only for costumes temporary bonus exp and other cosmetic improvements.
When you first play the controls can be slightly clumsy but is is something which wears off after you get the hang of it, the player can control their character with both the mouse and the WASD keys and the camera is fully fluid so you can move it wherever you like best. fighting is done with the C (automated combo key) and the F1-10 hotkeys. another interesting thing about this game is the sheer bonus of having an assist or ringmaster (buff specialist assist) at the very low levels it is possible to find an obliging Ringmaster to help you level. The power of the buffs given to you is the same no matter what your level meaning that a lvl 1 with buffs can take on level 15 monsters with ease after being buffed.
The Graphics are very satisfying and the locations you visit are always unique from the mushroom forests of upper Darkon to the Lava plains of lower darkon and the medieval style buildings in Saint Morning. They have put a lot of work into the music which differs from place to place and from time to time. If you find yourself requiring a nice dungeon run or a giant fight I would recommend Flyff.
The Good: astounding character and equipment customization, not very demanding on your computer and the ability to fly.
The Bad: Grinding requirements, Repetitive quests, and real world traders
