Battlefield Heroes Overview and Features:
Battlefield Heroes features a modified conquest mode providing each team 50 tickets and eventually one flag at the start of the round. Killing enemies and holding more flags than the opposing army will progressively reduce their number of tickets. The game also features matchmaking, to keep players of the same level together. Developers of the game have talked about levels going as high as 40 or 50. The two armies are called the National Army (possessing a red base color flag) and the Royal Army (possessing a blue base color flag). The game is third-person only at this point, but senior producer Ben Cousins has stated if first-person is really wanted, it may be added in at a later date. Spawn times are 5 seconds (compared to previous Battlefield games' 15), allowing for less waiting and more action. Players do not pick spawn points since the game has an "Intelligent Spawn System" putting players closest to the nearest battle.
Like previous Battlefield games Battlefield Heroes also has a class system, which has been reduced to three basic classes: the Soldier, Gunner, and Commando.
Armies
There are to be two armies, the National and the Royal Army. The Nationals resemble a Nazi Germany style faction, while the Royals are a British/American faction.
Characters
Each player will be able to create up to four characters, in order for players to experience different classes in both factions. No female models have been added yet. Characters from each class have the same basic model and features, with minor changes in uniform color that are visible during gameplay.
Commando
The Commando class is the "quick" class, specializing in stealth tactics as well as back-stabs and sniping. The known weapons of the Commando are a sniper rifle, knife and a pistol. The sniper rifle does high damage and can easily score a kill in the fewest hits, even if the character does not have weapon-boost abilities activated.[9] The Commando is a spy type character and has low health compared to the other classes. Special abilities of this class are laying traps, cloaking, poisoning daggers, and identifying enemy targets.
Abilities include:
-Starting ability- Stealth
-Unlockables- Mark Target, Elixir, Poisoned Blade, Troop Trap, Piercing Shot
Soldier
The Soldier is an all around-class, equally balancing speed and armament-with some tactical abilities. Currently the known weapons that the Soldier carries are the submachine gun, shotgun and grenades. Some abilities the Soldier can possess are incendiary rounds, a "health boost", which also heals allies around the player, and throwing multiple grenades. The soldier is able to determine enemy locations via a special ability called "Sixth-Sense". This ability outlines nearby opponents even if they are hidden from player view. In addition, the soldier is capable of knocking back all infantry and vehicles nearby him.
Abilities include:
-Starting ability- Combat Medicine
-Unlockables- Grenade Spam, Burning Bullets, Blasting Strike, Sixth Sense
Gunner
The Gunner moves the slowest of all units, but has the heaviest weapons. The gunner class can use an Anti-tank weapon, a heavy machine gun, and a shotgun.[3]
Abilities include:
-Starting Ability- Hero Shield
-Unlockables- I Eats Grenades, Leg It, Explosive Keg, Frenzy Fire
Vehicles
The game is set to start with three types of vehicle per side: Jeeps, tanks and planes. DICE has explained that they will add more vehicles according to user demand. The current vehicles are based loosely on real-life ones, and include the classic American WWII styled tank (M4 Sherman), an American Jeep, a German Panzer division styled tank (Panzer IV Ausf. D), a German Kübelwagen, a British WWII styled aeroplane (Supermarine Spitfire), and a German WWII styled aeroplane (Bf-109) for dogfighting. Players can also climb on top of tanks and onto the wings of planes and fire their weapons from there. Players will not fall off the wing should the plane do a barrel roll. This was brought in to limit the immense damage that aircraft would deal to the ground vehicles and infantry.
Abilities
Abilities are special powers that characters get when they level up. Known abilities at this time are the "Grenade Spam" ability, which allows multiple grenades to be thrown at a time, the "I Eats Grenades" ability, where the character absorbs nearby explosion to regenerate health, the "Blasting Strike" ability (Flings any nearby tanks, jeeps and infantry into the air in addition to causing damage), "Stealth" (makes player invisible unless the enemy is in close proximity), "Burning Bullets" (causes damage over time), "Piercing Shot" (boosts the damage of the weapon), but also setting traps and healing oneself. Note that all abilities are class specific.
Players may also purchase bandages to regenerate health and wrenches to regenerate vehicle armor points (which is the same as health for out of vehicle players).
Achievement System
Achievements work by a mission system allowing players to complete missions in order to get badges. Mission rewards also include points which can be used to buy different customizations and abilities for the player.
Items
Items are purchased with valor points which can be accumulated either by playing matches or by taking up missions which usually include dealing damage capturing flags and destroying vehicles.
Visual items allows customization of 12 different aspects of your character: Head, face, facial hair, helmet, jacket, boot, neck, chest, hand, waist, legs, and feet. Additional items available for purchase are eye patches, badges, hats, boots, helmets, goggles, belts, and gloves.[3] More types of items may be added in the future, especially if the player community wants them. Currently, most items purchased in the ingame store are available for a set period of time (7 days or 1 month), and after this period has elapsed the items must be repurchased for further use.
Balance
There is not much information in regards to additional weapons. A mentioned additional weapon is the sticky dynamite. The weapon will be effective against vehicles in order to maintain a balance between vehicles and infantry. It will be available to every class. The ability of all foot soldiers to take on more powerful vehicles will also provide a balance not frequently found in other iterations of the Battlefield series.

Battlefield Heroes Review
DICE has established a glowing reputation mostly due to the Battlefield series. Since Battlefield 1942 the games have featured exciting multiplayer combat, it infantry or vehicle-based and spawned a lot of imitators and sequels. Soon to be released are Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and now we have Battlefield Heroes.
What distinguishes this game from the rest is not only the new artistic direction (hello Team Fortress 2), but also the fact that it is free to play. Read More:
