Avalon Heroes

Avalon HeroesAvalon Heroes offers a breathtaking combination of real-time strategy and role playing with competitive elements, similar to the successful game modification "DotA" for WarCraft III. The free-to-play online strategy game already offers plenty of new contents: Six new heroes, a battle mode map, a new chapter in scenario mode for both factions, and two supplementary maps in the adventure mode are provided to real-time strategists and role players at no cost.

OverviewOn the one hand, Avalon Heroes, known as Avalon Online in Asia, focuses on the development of up to one hundred customizable hero characters, whose abilities the player gets to develop in the best RPG tradition. On the other hand, Avalon Heroes is all about mastering countless quests, together with or against other players. Single-player campaigns and hero-based multiplayer modes prepare the players for the greatest challenge of all: endless fighting and development of their own successful strategies.

In Avalon Heroes, you will encounter winged knights, lion-headed or minotaur-like fighters, as well as gigantic combat turtles, firebirds, and swarms of tiny creatures of light. But only those who pick the right strategy and the right teammates will be able to prevail in the online battles, because the eternal war between the two factions of Oriens and Aeonia can only be won as a team.

The Strategy mode is merely one way of exploring Avalon Heroes; the new release from burda:ic has a lot more to offer. Extensive quests in Scenario (=single-player) mode will fascinate players just as much as collective monster hunting in the dungeons of the Adventure mode. This gives players a chance to experience the game world in any way they want. Monotony is a thing of the past. Avalon Heroes offers thrilling real-time strategy!

BattleForge Overview and Features:

The BattleForge Play4Free Client offers you complete access to all areas and functionality of the game, including all content updates (new PvP maps, Renegade Campaign) made available since release.
Along with all functionality of the game, BattleForge Play4Free includes two decks consisting of 32 cards. You can play any scenario in the game, including the Renegade Campaign. With BattleForge Play4Free, you are also able to purchase Booster Pack and bid on cards in the Auction House.
However, you can only offer a card in the Auction House once you have reached level 4 in PvE and level 10 in PvP. Direct trades and sending in-game mail with attachments are also blocked until you reach this experience level.

There are a total of 200 cards available, almost equally divided between the powers of fire, frost, nature, and shadow. Players can buy and sell cards at an in-game auction house, using BattleForge Points (BF Points), an in-game currency. Players can also invite each other to conduct a direct trade.

There is a PvE mode (player versus environment) and a PvP mode (player versus player). In the PvE mode, players can complete missions. Some of these missions can only be played by 1 player, while others can be played with 2, 4 or 12 players. There are three modes available in missions: standard, advanced and expert. In order to unlock advanced and expert modes, players will have to complete the series of missions on standard mode first. The rewards for the missions are gold, card upgrades and PvE experience points. These experience points will increase a player's PvE level.

For PvP, players can choose between ranked and unranked PvP. Unranked PvP will not give any rewards, but can be useful for testing cards and strategies or for a simple, friendly match. Ranked pvp will give players gold, ELO points and tokens as reward. Gold and tokens can be traded for card upgrades, while ELO points will increase a player's PvP level.

BattleForge Review

In the 90’s Blizzard set the bar for Real Time Strategy games with their smash hit, Warcraft and later, Starcraft. Their near perfect formula of balance, strategy, and replay value has been what hardcore strategy gamers have hoped for in all other games of the genre. Does BattleForge live up to such a high expectation?
Calling BattleForge an RTS (real time strategy) just isn’t enough. This game is one-half real time strategy game, and one-half trading card game. As such, it requires you to pay real money via micro-transactions for more cards. A once Pay-to-Play game gone Free-to-Play, BattleForge still offers a full game but also the option to buy additional cards. Read More»

Cosmic Supremacy is offering an innovative mix between traditional multiplayer strategy games and persistent online games. A game in Cosmic Supremacy (which is called a 'Galaxy') exists in it's own completely separate galaxy. Every Galaxy has a definite start, and ends when there is an obvious winner. Galaxies usually last between 3 and 6 weeks, but you are not required to sit behind your computer and babysit your empire all the time - instead (just like in a wide variety of browser based games) you give your orders and commands, and check back several hours later to see the results of your decisions.

Cosmic Supremacy is a true 4X game (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate), and there are many different strategies to grow and expand your empire. You learn from your achievements as well as your failures, and try to do even better next time. Cosmic Supremacy allows you to do just that, because every game has a limited duration before declaring a winner. After that you enter the next galaxy, refine your strategies by learning from your experiences in previous galaxies, and try to get an even better score this time around.

And best of all: a full 3D controllable galaxy-map, that actually shows the world you are playing in! Now imagine you can seamlessly zoom in on every planet, sun or ship, giving your orders right there in the map, twist and turn the view around, and zoom out again to see the vast stretches of the entire galaxy... Territorial borders and ship-routes are displayed as well as special effects to make this experience a feast
for your eyes.

Galaxy Online Overview and Features:

Galaxy Online is a massive real-time strategy game set in the vast expanses of the universe.

The game design is very flexible, allowing players a great amount of freedom in dictating where they go and what they do. Players can find new planets, study their resources and decide, how and when to utilize them to their advantage. However, players must remember they are not alone in the galaxy and they must compete with other players for these resources. You can lead the simple and exciting life of a businessman, assessing profit and loss from material resources, or lead a fleet of warships into battle to expand your inter-galactic empire.

While most MMORPGs confine their players to a strict set of rules, and a highly structured gaming environment, Galaxy Online takes the opposite approach. We set down the basic rules of operation and let players discover the rest. Adventures, battles, exploration and more are all left to the players to discover for themselves. Concepts like character levels, experience gained, and others do not retain the same significance, instead, a higher priority is placed on strategy and success, whether economically or militarily. Before players can begin to develop a planet, they must consider how to efficiently exploit the planets resources, how to use those resources, and how to protect those resources. Careful consideration must always be taken or your empire may fall.

Warship
Warships tend to be the most important part of the game. They are not simply machines of war, but a means of transportation, leadership, and protection. Galaxy Online features tons of hulls and modules for players to use to design a warship blueprint and then create it. Warship hull and module stats have been designed both elaborately and accurately. What a player decides to do with cannon slots, missile slots, shield values, armor values, structural integrity, and storage can all affect the warships capability. Even after a warship has been fully designed and built, there are thousands of warship facilities available to modify a warships' attack power, defense and other stats for individual or unique missions and goals.

Corp
There are many factions to choose from in the universe of Galaxy Online, but the Corps are the most active and stable organization or them all. In the Corps, players study Corps Science to increase their knowledge and power and fight together against enemies. Players can completely control their role in their Corps, whether that means acting as the leader or as a simple subordinate officer. Corruption, rebellion, espionage and much more are available to players as tools to assist in realizing their Galactic ambitions. So, before you invite someone new into your Corps, you had better consider the implications carefully.

Blitz 1941 Overview and Features:

In Blitz1941, there are over 60 different kinds of tanks. These tanks were all used by the German and Russian armies during World War II. If you gain a victory against your opponents, then you will get Exp, Bonus, Contribution, and Money. As get it, you can promote a tank commander character (an avatar). And you can also gain a combat skill, and purchase stronger tanks to increase your ranking in your country. You can buy a reinforcing item for your tanks. Unlike usual P2P games, where a player creates a room and plays against another player, Blitz1941 allows you to enter and exit easily an international battlefield (composed of 15 cities in Europe) in real time and places you into tense combat against other players to occupy a city. The winner can occupy the city and get the advantage of an economy area and the supply of needed materials.

If you improve your own tank with reinforcing items, then your tank can be more effective in combat and have different characteristics from the other player’s tanks. Perhaps you need to operate your tank properly and shoot an enemy’s tanks accurately in one-to-one combat, but you should try to make strategies to cooperate with same team’s tank units in large-scale tank combat, where over 200 tanks are simultaneously used in combat operations.

The game’s background is based on the combat areas of Eastern Europe, which was divided into 15 cities in 1941, during the German-Soviet war: Prague (Czechoslovakia), Vienna (Austria), Budapest (Hungary), Sofia (Hungary), Odessa (Ukraine), Sevastopol (Ukraine), Warsaw (Poland), Gdansk (Poland), Riga (Latvia), Minsk (Belarus), Kiev (Russia), Stalingrad (Russia), Kursk (Russia). Not involved are Berlin (Germany) und Moscow (Russia), the capitals of both countries.

The cities are identified as either a metropolitan city, a small city, a munitions city, or a commercial city, according to characteristics of it. The structure, size, and feature of the levels of each characteristic are expressed differently. Roads connecting the cities will be configured to enable combat on the roads. Since 3D graphics can illustrate tactical movements, tank firing, and the geography of the area, players can play many different games according to geographical features.

The different levels of Blitz 1941 show different geographical features and architectural styles for each city and country. All the cultural elements and unique architecture of the cities are meticulously represented in the game to recreate Europe during World War II. Blitz 1941 illustrates hilly land, hillocks, low-lying areas, rivers, and artificial structures (e.g. bridges). The background has been beautifully recreated through real terrain processing so players can use the land tactically in combat.

PoxNora

__________________________________________________________________________________________
PoxNora Overview and Features:

PoxNora is a collectible, turn-based, tactical, online fantasy game. Players command armies of fantastic creatures, cast spells of devastating power, and summon relics and equipment of ancient renown in order to defeat their opponents. These creatures, spells, artifacts and equipment are represented by Runes - items of magical power that, when activated, come to life on the battlefield. Each Rune type has its own set of traits. Some traits, like Nora Cost and Cooldown, are common to all Rune types.

In addition to the game play itself, there is the collectible, creative aspect in which a player assembles a customized set of Runes for play. In PoxNora, this set of Runes is called a Battle Group. You choose your Battle Group prior to entering a match, having no idea what your opponent may bring to the field.

PoxNora provides you with access to hundreds of Runes, allowing for endless Battle Group combinations to explore while new content is added regularly.

  • Hundreds of Illustrated Runes to Play

Configure your Battlegroup from hundreds of beautifully illustrated Runes. Runes gain experience, advance levels, and have special abilities that can turn the battle in your favor. We have already launced the base game as well as 2 complete expansion packs bringing our total count to over 400 runes!

  • Highly Detailed maps

Activate your runes and watch your champions come to life on the battlefield. Maps have multiple terrain types and various levels of elevation.

  • Built-In Trading

Looking for a particular rune? Barter with players from around the world to complete your collection!

  • Game Types
Capture the Flag: The object of this game is to score points by "capturing" your opponent's flag. You and your opponent each have a flag inside of your shrine's deployment zone. When a champion moves onto the space containing the opposing player's flag, that champion picks the flag up, and gains the "flag-bearer" unit condition. Champions with the "flag-bearer" condition have iron will, planar bound, and cannot use/be part of any abilities that would move it more than one space at a time. If a champion carrying the flag is killed, the flag is dropped on the space that the champion died. At the beginning of a turn, if a unit you control is standing on your flag while it is at its starting flag point, that unit will take 20 damage. If a unit you control walks onto your flag while it is anywhere else, the flag will be returned to the starting flag point. If a player has BOTH his and his opponent's flag inside of his shrine's deployment zone, the flag is considered captured, and a point is scored. The game ends after a player has scored 3 points. You may only use Champions in this game type.

King of the Hill: The object of this game is to score points by having only Champions you control inside of a special "zone". The zone is located in the center of the map, and indicated with black squares. At the start of a turn, if the zone has only champions controlled by one player inside of it, that player scores a point. If the zone has no champions inside of it, or if both players have champions inside of it, no player scores a point. The game ends after a player has scored 10 points. You may only use Champions in this game type.

Normal: The object of this game is to destroy your opponent's shrine by reducing its HP to 0. This game type uses standard rules (which can be found on the website). All rune types may be used.

  • Campaigns

Take your favorite Runes on an adventure! Campaigns are a series of Encounters, where you will face off with a computer-controlled opponent. In the Single Player lobby, you will find several free Campaigns that are ready for you to play! In Campaigns, your Runes can gain experience. Still not satisfied? Head over to the Campaign Store and check out the special Story Campaigns! In a Story Campaign, you will take part in PoxNora lore and gain temporary access to Exotic Runes. The rewards in Story Campaigns are even better!

In this section, you can create special Tokens to give your Champions special names, taunts, and even grant them experience! Collect enough Fragments and Tokens, and you could even redeem a free Pack of Runes!

__________________________________________________________________________________________
Saga Overview and Features:

Saga combines the TCG-sensibilities of Magic: The Gathering, the MMO persistency of RPG’s, and the kingdom management and mass battles of RTS titles such as Rome: Total War.

Gameplay in Saga is best described in two states: kingdom management and battle.

Kingdom Management

In keeping with the RTS genre, gameplay in Saga revolves around managing a persistent, online kingdom. Each player is given a plot of land by their faction God, which they must develop and improve. These improvements include building defensive walls and towers, researching new technology at the university, and harvesting the available resources.

Players, at the time of nation creation, choose which layout their nation will have. Then, as their resources grow (by questing or by peasant workforce) they can build buildings. Building spots are chosen by a system called "Free Build". Free build lets the user place buildings wherever they want, although there is a limit to how many of each building a player can build. Resources can be played on colored squares (brown = wood, gray = stone, gold = gold, purple = mana). There are an excess of these squares though, so one is not limited.

Additionally, players maintain a population of peasants, which rises and falls depending on the popularity of the player as a leader. Unpopular leaders can suffer riots, leading to extensive damage to structures and mass desertions by peasants. A player will gain peasants by capturing houses in quests or in PvP. At 74 happiness one's peasants will riot and at 90 one gains production bonuses. Any happiness above this is excess and should be used to tax the peasants. Normally, if your happiness is above 74 you gain 4 peasants a day.

Battle

-Troops
Saga employs a booster pack system to amass troops. Each player receives an initial starter pack, as one would with a TCG, featuring a collection of various individual troops. These troops must be placed into like units to create an army. When more troops are needed, players buy “booster packs”, which are a random selection of 10 troops ranging from common to rare. These troops can then be drafted into existing units, or traded off to other players. Through the trading system, players can customize their armies and trade for exactly what they are looking for. Trading takes place in the market, which also allows for resources to be traded, and troops to be bought and sold.

Units grow in experience, increasing their base efficacy. Additionally, units can be further upgraded through collecting special gear such as armor and weapons. This gear is obtained through Questing against computer-controlled opponents.

-Combat
Combat in Saga is real-time, in keeping with the RTS genre, and consists of maneuvering units around the field to fight and gain an advantage over the enemy. Spells, special abilities and reinforcements add to the various strategies that can be employed to gain an advantage. Battles can be fought against computer-controlled opponents through the Quest system, or against other players in PvP battles. While quests largely take place on neutral battlefields across the world of Saga, PvP battles are city-to-city conflicts between the competing players. PvP battles can be fought between two or four players, either on teams or as a free-for-all. In PvP combat, the two (or four) players have their kingdoms stitched together so that battles take place upon their lands. Being a persistent world, damage inflicted during PvP battles carries over, including the pillaging and destruction of opponent’s buildings, and the death of troops. Dead troops can be resurrected in temples using God-favor, a combat-based resource. PvP battles can be fought in “scrimmage” mode, which allows for players to compete without any permanent damage being done to their kingdoms or troops; no experience or resource rewards are accumulated through “scrimmage” games.

Ground Control

Ground Control is a 2000 real-time tactics computer game developed by Massive Entertainment. It features 3D graphics and a free-floating camera which allows one to zoom in and out and view the action from any angle, from a bird's-eye view to the perspective of one's own assault units at ground level. As a real-time tactics game, Ground Control completely does away with resource and economic management. One must therefore focus all of his or her attention on controlling one's limited set of units to achieve victory.
Units in the game include various types of tanks, hovercraft, aircraft, and infantry, and are delivered to the battlefield by orbital dropships. However, once in battle, the player is not able to summon reinforcements, so proper troop selection between levels is a key to success. Each unit type has special weapons, abilities, and armor. Players can choose to customize each unit or let the game auto-select the load-out for each mission. The units of the two factions in the game differ in several areas: the Crayven Corporation has hardier units that rely on traditional ballistics and movement. The Order of the New Dawn's units trade heavy armor for a hover propulsion system that grants them increased speed and mobility, and use energy weaponry that give them more damage potential.
Shortly after the release of its sequel, Ground Control was made available to the public for free

Ground Control Overview and Features:

The most notable gameplay elements revolve around the game's focus on tactics, carefully designed to discourage tank rush strategies. Armoured units (Terradynes and Hoverdynes) are weaker at the sides, rear, and from above; consequently, flanking maneuvers can be effectively used. High ground offers many major advantages; from such a position, the attacker can take advantage of lower enemies' weaker topside armour, and the attackers also receive increased accuracy and sight range and is especially useful for placing artillery.

Suppressive fire is also simulated; units being suppressed will fire less accurately. Suppression fire can be applied by any unit against stronger opponents; therefore, infantry units can effectively suppress heavy units such as tanks, even if the target is not taking any damage due to armor.

Stealth tactics can be used; units can take advantage of shadows cast by higher terrain to camouflage themselves. Infantry can also use foliage to hide. Thus, commanders too will have to scout ahead of their tanks to preempt any ambushes.

Friendly fire is taken into account; units behind the front lines will shoot friendlies in their lines of fire. Since damage in the rear is multiplied, careful attention to squad placement is required.
The squad configuration screen

Units are organized within squads. While units within a squad move, fight and receive damage as individuals, they must be given orders as a squad. Each squad belongs to a certain category (Infantry, Armour, Support, or Aerodyne), and the player can select the specific unit type for each squad before each battle. For example, a Crayven armour squad can be adjusted to Scout, Light, Main Battle, or Heavy Terradyne roles. Because each unit type has its own strengths and weaknesses, as well as a distinct role, various unit combinations are required in order to achieve success.

Squads are rewarded with experience throughout the campaign, including medals awarded for each squad's combat performance, giving improved abilities. Any losses taken by a squad are replenished at the end of a mission; however, if the whole squad is wiped out, it will be removed and replaced with a new, inexperienced squad in easier difficulty levels.

All units, except for the Command APC, can select one finite special weapon and one special equipment for each mission. Special weapons range from infantry mortars and anti-tank rockets to improved missiles and tactical nuclear warheads. They can be used to improve a squad's effectiveness in its specialized role, or allow it to defeat targets which it would otherwise be virtually ineffective against. Special equipment can include medkits, repair kits, image intensifiers, afterburners, various stationary turrets, or, for the Crayven Corporation, repair stations. Most specials can usually be used two or three times during a level, although the most powerful special abilities, such as the bomber's tactical nuclear warhead, are limited to a single use.

Dropships are used to transport units to the battlefield, and are deployed at the start of a mission (with some exceptions). Each dropship can carry up to four squads regardless of squad type. The player can use up to three dropships (for a total of twelve squads plus the Command APC), although early in the single-player campaign only one or two dropships are assigned to the player.

Most units for one side are similar in function to equivalent units of the other side; some however are quite different. For example, the Order's Templar Infantry is an all-female squadron equipped with powerful anti-tank missile launchers who cannot attack infantry. Their Crayven analogue is Jaeger Infantry - a four-man squad of snipers useful for scouting.
